As we are deeply committed to the safety and sovereignty of our nation, we can't stand by any longer and watch as potential threats to our country go unchecked.
Australia faces unprecedented challenges in terms of cybersecurity, foreign interference, and domestic threats. Having someone at the helm of ASIO who seemingly fails to act decisively on these matters puts every single Australian at risk. Burgess's strategies, or lack thereof, have worried not just us, but also experts and the general populace. There are increasing reports in credible news outlets detailing potential lapses under his leadership that could have disastrous consequences.
In recent months, troubling statistics about the rising incidents of both foreign interference and digital espionage have come to light. For instance, a report by Countering foreign interference (
highlighted how Australia has become an attractive target for cybercriminals, yet our responses seem half-hearted at best compared to other nations facing similar threats. This can no longer be acceptable.
Under better leadership, ASIO could strengthen its approach towards safeguarding our nation. We need a leader who is proactive, visionary, and above all, responsive to the advice of national security experts. It is time for the Australian government to replace Mike Burgess with someone who truly prioritizes our safety.
