Hello, Signers!

An update on what was sent via email to the Board of Directors as well as all Staff yesterday:

"Dear _____

I address this to you as the Board Chair but it falls on each and every board member as the governing entity of Maryland Hall to take further action.

We have gotten notification that an investigation into the matter at hand is forthcoming. We have also been made aware that Jackie Coleman has continued to do her best to control the narrative and insert herself directly into communications regarding the current situation.

Because of this, we respectfully request that Jackie Coleman be placed on administrative leave immediately during this time as her continued presence and involvement directly disrupts and threatens the integrity of the investigation.

Individuals who may want to speak out may feel pressure to remain silent and intimidated by Jackie Coleman herself.

Coleman should have no further contact with any individual or organization involved with Maryland Hall during this time. No-contact should be enforced to prevent retaliation or witness tampering, while at the same time ensuring the investigation remains confidential.

Placing an employee on administrative leave during an investigation is common practice to protect the integrity of the process and ensure a safe, neutral environment and we are surprised and deeply concerned as to why this has not yet been done.

There are highly sensitive and complex matters at stake.

We also request that this investigation be conducted with the utmost care and in the most unbiased nature and ask that you consider an outside, neutral entity to investigate. When high-level executives such as Jackie Coleman are involved, impartiality is critical and to ensure credibility when internal teams are too closely involved or face conflicts of interest.

We are not sure that the seriousness of this matter has been fully grasped at this time or the level of misconduct has been considered.

We come to you directly to consider these requests and suggestions and respectfully ask that you take action soon.

As you continue to navigate this matter and carefully consider next steps on your end, we are also considering next steps on ours in order to further our cause.

We may be in contact with the media should we see no proactivity or tangible action in the near future.

Although there are those who have directly benefited from Coleman’s mismanagement and misconduct, this is not meant as an attack on Maryland Hall as an organization or community. We all know the extraordinary work and history of the organization as well as the passionate staff who have worked and currently work day in and day out towards the mission.

The petition will continue to be shared via email and across multiple social media platforms.

And please note that other individuals have been bcc'd on this communication.

Lastly, for those individuals who have yet to sign the petition, and have been affected in any way, shape, or form by Jackie Coleman’s regime, or have bore witness to this behavior, we invite you to contribute your signature anonymously.

Now is the time and there may not be another.

Every little bit helps to continue moving this petition forward and to finally spark long overdue change. We are hoping it continues to gain more traction and momentum and has inspired others who may have been silent for so long to finally speak out or do their part in any way they can and feel comfortable. Even if it is as easy as sharing the petition, circulation is one of the most helpful actions you can take.

Respectfully,

Be the Change Maryland Hall
