Dear all,
I want to thank you for your great support. Because of you, more and more innocent animals are being released from the “Whale Jail”. In fact, the last two orcas, Kharia and Forest, have been released from Srednyaya Bay!
Still, there are 75 beluga whales remaining.
The bad news is that while the captives of the “whale jail” are slowly being released one by one, there is a big chance for newcomers – there is a real threat of capturing 282 Beluga whales, 20 Pacific White-sided Dolphins, 8 Bottlenose Dolphins, 8 Grinds, 1496 Walruses and 1905 Seals. This might be done for cultural and educational purposes by 2020. The government is now considering this project.
Together we have already stopped whale fishing in 2019. Now it is time to prevent this in 2020. We already got an ally in this battle — Jean Michel Cousteau once again came to help and officially asked the Russian authorities not to allow captures of cetaceans in 2020.
I will keep you posted,
Anastasia
