The newest update to the UK visa system allows graduates from the world's top 50 universities to apply for a visa under the name 'high-potential individual'. 

These individuals will be able to apply without a job offer to get into the UK; although this is a start to opening up visa discussion this isn't a solution for UK citizens who want their long term partners to live with them in the UK or for smaller businesses who will still have less choice available when it comes to searching for staff. 

This is also opening up a new level of elitism, only the ones the UK government see as highly qualified are allowed to enter, and university graduates that aren't on the list will not be given the same chances, due to the name of the university they attended. There is also no cap on how many of these 'high potential individuals' the UK will accept. If the UK believe that any number of these 'high potential individuals' are allowed to enter the country then why do they have such strict and oppressive rules for those who count as 'skilled workers' or as spouses and married partners?
