We urge the cancellation of all mining licenses in the Raja Ampat Archipelago. Indonesia's last biodiversity should not be sacrificed for corporate profit. Instead, develop sustainable ecotourism involving indigenous people. Raja Ampat is known globally for its untouched coral reefs, hosting 75% of all known coral species with marine life diversity reaching almost 1,430 fish species (source: UNESCO). Mining operation will not only cause irreversible damage to this unique biodiversity but also threaten the livelihood of the local communities who are dependent on the marine resources.
