We need only 352 more petition signatures to reach 1,000 - and another newsworthy event! Can you help us get one more signature on this snow day?
Sadly there was another tragic PPS student death from an overdose last weekend. That marks 6 months of this school year with an incident involving drugs or guns. SRO's are, in fact, part of a team of violence interrupters for our students, deterring crime and building relationships before the unthinkable happens. It takes a village of counselors, staff, Youth Violence Prevention and Response Managers and SROs to keep our students safe, in class and accountable for learning during the school day. Students can't focus on learning if they don't feel safe.
At the PPS school board meeting this week they discussed a Safety Task Force set up to deliver recommendations to the school board on May 4th. SROs were part of the discussion - a direct result of our grassroots coalition!
Please share our petition link on social media. We must continue to advocate for the safety of our school communities and neighborhoods, and keep SROs part of the discussion. Thank you!
