Estate & Campaign Updates
There have been some victories: https://southlondon.co.uk/news/resident-ballot-returns-majority-no-to-proposed-demolition-plans/ but many estates are still at the forefront of the country's obsession of tearing down people's homes, to replace them with mainly unaffordable investment properties.  And it's only going to get worse with the Government committing £7bn to councils outside London to fund the affordable portion (about 12% - 20%) of an unaffordable scheme.

Hear from: SHAPE, Southwark's housing action coalition, driving a hard campaign to stop towers with only 12% affordable housing from destroying Peckham's town centre; Ladywood and Druid's Heath, two estates in Birmingham; Woodberry Down, Aylesbury, Homes for Lambeth Tenants; and Belleview Mansions, who won the ballot against Hyde Housing.

Join guest speaker, Alice Brown, on ”Why We Must Keep Existing Buildings, NOT Demolish Them” and workshops include: Making Legal Challenges; Direct Actions: and Building Campaigns.
