The Reducing Barak Beacon petition has FAILED

Dear petitioners, residents, neighbours & fellow Victorians,

I'm sorry to confirm in writing what you all know to be true in reality:

THIS PETITION HAS FAILED 😔

  • It failed despite the incredible effort made by so many people.
  • It failed to garner a single concession, a single meeting with anyone in the government who cared or had the power to influence.
  • It has failed in its intention to simply ask the Victorian State Government to do what they said they would do, which was to listen & consider.
  • It failed in its intention to seek support from the Federal Government regardless of this being a state issue.

BUT...

  1. What we did NOT FAIL to do was to unite and to persevere and to care. To care enough to put huge energy into something that would influence our neighbourhood, our children, our families, our suburb.
  2. We will not die wondering what would have happened if we had taken action.
  3. We will not die wondering about whether the Victorian Labor Government had already made their decision.
  4. We will not die wondering about whether we were lied to.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT? 💗

We should take some joy from the relationships that we now have as a result of having come together. We should take joy from the genuine care & comfort we know resides in these houses, these families, these neighbours turned friends in this great suburb of ours.

MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT 💪

This exercise has been an important reminder about the power we give those with our vote. With the Federal election very shortly and the Victorian State election next year, let's make our votes count.

We will close this petition shortly & move on.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ENERGY, RESILIENCE & DESIRE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
