Petition updatePut the Canadian flag firstOn a gold medal Flag Day, tell Ottawa we won't settle for silver

How fitting it is to win a gold medal on Flag Day. As we celebrate 57 years of the Maple Leaf, today, a trio of speed skaters has put our flag in the place of honour at the Beijing Olympic Winter Games. But, as our athletes compete to put it in top spot, Ottawa says it has to settle for silver, back home. Currently, the personal flags of 30 individuals who either live overseas or represent those who do, take the position of honour, forcing the Canadian flag off the pole or moved to an inferior position.

We say the flags of the governor general, 10 lieutenant-governors, and British royals can certainly fly, but the Maple Leaf should *always* take precedence here at home.

This Flag Day, let's emulate our speed skaters, and give the Canadian flag the gold medal position. Share this message so others can help give our flag something it’s never had: supremacy above all flags in its own country.
