Petition updatePush the eVisa Deadline Back into 2025 for International StudentsWhat the Home Office is Reporting

Greetings!

First I want to share our new link: https://www.change.org/evisas4students

Also, I was recently informed that the propaganda machine is alive and well regarding the eVisa issue. As you may know, the eVisa issue in the UK will affect over 4.8 Million people by 31 December 2024.  So far, the Home Office (HO) reports that 'many thousands' of people in the UK already have eVisas. Their reluctance to say the actual number is sketchy - and as you all who understand marketing know - denotes a lower number than they want to report.  If they were proud of the number, or confident in the system, they would report exacts  - may be even have a little rolling counter of people who are being assisted.

The propaganda machine is also letting British citizens know that the eVisa issues 'only affect refugees'.  This is not true.  According to the HO, the new eVisa system affects every single person with a visa currently residing in the UK.  Every. Single. One.
Here is a short, incomplete, list of people who are affected, which is taken from their newest update given to the MP's and located on the House of Commons Library site:
- People with Biometric Residency Permits (BRPs)
- People with Biometric Residency Cards (BRCs)
- Some longstanding residents of the UK secured permanent residence rights (indefinite leave to remain) before residence permits were introduced. [Legacy documents, affecting approx. 200,000 people]
- People who's immigration permission is expiring need to apply to extend it before they apply for the eVisa.

And for the nay-sayers who are still wary that the difficulties only affect those who are 'refugees' or who have 'overstayed their legal right to remain', this quote is directly from the Home Office:
"Somebody who attempts to return to the UK in 2025 presenting only an expired residence permit might be denied boarding even if they do have valid immigration status."

Stay safe out there friends.
