The Board of Trustees of the Trust Funds is composed of 6 members:[1][2]

Secretary of the Treasury (the Managing Trustee),
Secretary of Labor,

Secretary of Health and Human Services,
Commissioner of Social Security, and
2 members appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate.

The Board of Trustees holds the trust funds.[10] The Managing Trustee is responsible for investing the funds,[11] which has been delegated to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service.[12]
