Das Problem

Wolves are majestic creatures that deserve protection and understanding from mankind. They act purely out of instinct, and any problem humans face with them is often caused by human behavior itself. A wolf becomes problematic because humans tend to encroach on their territory, feed them irresponsibly, and alter their natural behavior.

Currently, a wolf residing in the National Park Hoge Veluwe in the Netherlands is unfairly targeted. This wolf has been marked as a 'problem wolf' with very little evidence to support this accusation. Reports of attacks attributed to this wolf are based on images that strongly appear to be digitally altered or created using artificial intelligence. The basis of these claims lacks the concrete proof required to take such drastic actions against a living being.

The wolves in our national parks, like the one at Hoge Veluwe, play a critical role in maintaining the ecosystem. Eliminating a wolf based on unverified and scant evidence not only disrupts the delicate balance of nature but also raises ethical concerns about the human tendency to unfairly scapegoat animals. Protecting this wolf is crucial to preserve both the integrity of the ecosystem and promote humane interactions between humans and wildlife.

Instead of resorting to lethal measures, authorities should focus on non-lethal solutions such as enhanced research on wolf behavior, better public education on coexisting with wolves, and more robust measures to prevent wolves from becoming dependent on human food sources. These steps can help protect the wolves and prevent recurrence of such problems.

Stand with us in urging the authorities to reconsider their approach and protect the Hoge Veluwe wolf from being hunted and shot based on biased and insufficient evidence. Your signature can help preserve the integrity of nature and advocate for the humane treatment of wildlife. Please sign this petition to make a difference.
