ATTENTION ECFS/YMCA PARENTS! WCBS interview in the crosswalk Tues, Sept 13, 11:30 AM EDT

This update is for Sept 10 - Sept 12. Now that I'm not down on the crosswalk every day, there is more time to push the Sisyphian boulder up the mountain and write updates about it. After our recent success in getting NY DOT to show up and start evaluating our crosswalk for APS buttons, I decided to write their DOT Intersection Control Unit, which is responsible for new APS button requests, and ask them to install APS buttons at the 19 other crosswalks with signal lights on the lower loop that consists of West Drive, Center Drive, East Drive, and 72nd Street inside Central Park. Now DOT has 4 months to respond and 18 months to complete installation of same. Got that done today.

Several weeks ago, a runner in the roadway approached me and asked if I was interested in news coverage from CBS news. He explained that he worked at WCBS and had seen the Instagram videos of me calling out the assholes running the red light, which got over 700k views. I gave him my calling card and he followed up a few days later. Today, I got another email from one of their reporters, Zinnia Maldonado, asking for an interview.

As a result, we agreed to an interview in the crosswalk tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept 13, at 11:30 AM EDT. If you are a parent of a child that attends the YMCA or the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, a student or teacher at one of these schools, or a local resident who uses this crosswalk frequently and would like to have your chance to put in your two cents worth, I urge you to come out tomorrow at 11:30 am EDT at the crosswalk. To be honest, I don't want this to be a story about me. It has to be a story about the children, elderly and disabled who use this crosswalk and feel they are in danger every time they try to cross into the park.
