Hello, thank you for all your support so far. The council were disappointed we started this Petition!! But we felt it was very necessary to help save the small businesses and jobs on the western road and our business that we have spent nearly 19 years building. We have another 1700 signatures in the shop also... SO A HUGE THANK YOU!!
We have been to two meetings, where we have made suggestions that could help, including a traffic warden more available in the area, and installing a pedestrian push button crossing, instead of the current zebra crossings, as it is a main route to the local schools. Also to improve parking options, to make the road more like Blatchington Road, with pay and display and loading bays, so people can pay to park legally and safely, and making money for the local council. The road is a 10m wide road, exactly the same as Blatchington Road. None of these proposals have currently been used as options.
We are now in the legal consultation period , so if I could ask if you could please please go to the this web address and show your support. www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/red-routes-western-road by the 4th January 2026. By doing this you really impact the campaign and enable your views to be heard.
The current cost is £200,000 for a very unnecessary, aggressive Red Route, plus then the cost of employing 24hr camara operatives on going!!! lets show this council that we do have the power to protect our community and make our voices heard.
