After hearing from 1000's of supporters of following suit with the rest of Ontario and raising the Pride flag to show support for their students (who made the request), 6 trustees voted against it with Chair Alexander stating that it doesn't align with the boards Catholic values. However, many in the Catholic education community argue that being inclusive of these marginalized students & staff is in fact the Catholic thing to do.

This sparked a walk-out by the students on June 8th. 100's of students from 11 different schools across the region peacefully protested outside their schools to show their solidarity in the request for change.
