Aloha Kaloko residents and neighbors,

Good news—our collective voice is making an impact. The applicant for Special Permit PL-SPP-2025-000086 has formally requested that their hearing be deferred. This means the application will not be heard at the originally scheduled date of 9/18/2025. Mahalo piha for all of your support!

Here is the official language from the Planning Commission to the applicant:

"This is to confirm receipt of your letter dated September 3, 2025, requesting to defer the above- referenced application until further notice to allow you time to address the concerns raised in the public testimony that has been received. Based on your request, this application which was scheduled to be heard by the Leeward Planning Commission at 9:30a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, is deferred. Please notify the Planning Department when you are ready to proceed with the application." 

While this is great progress, it's important to note the application has not been withdrawn. A deferral pauses the process, and the hearing may be rescheduled for a later date. Because my family lives within the surrounding area, the applicant is required to send me official notice if the application is rescheduled for another hearing. I will continue to keep everyone updated so our community stays informed and is ready to respond.

This deferral is a sign that our unified opposition is working. Please continue sharing the petition so we build even stronger community representation ahead of the next step.
