I was recently on vacation in Alsace, in a place called Bergheim. I stayed at a campsite where I met an adorable young black dog, who had a great desire to move and play. He also craved affection and companionship. Unfortunately, this dog was only used as a kind of "alarming security system," tied up in the scorching sun, exploited to bark whenever anyone approached the site. In exchange for his services, he only received a little food and water. This experience deeply moved me and opened my eyes to a situation that should be unacceptable. Animals are living beings, not objects or tools. They need movement, play, and above all, affection and respect. Tying an animal up for prolonged periods, limiting its ability to express itself and its well-being, should be prohibited in all its forms.

The purpose of this petition is to demand a ban on tethering dogs and other animals as a normal practice. There are more humane alternative solutions, such as the use of appropriate fencing, human supervision, or technology that does not sacrifice the animal's well-being. It is essential that we work toward legislation that protects these living beings, recognizing their basic needs for mobility and affection. Let's call on local and national authorities to create effective laws that guarantee the well-being of all domestic animals. Together, we can raise awareness and pave the way for more humane and respectful treatment of all living beings.
