Please click this link now and in literally two minutes ask your MP to speak up about a major frozen pensions update. The Government has just quietly introduced the legislation that keeps the “frozen pensions” policy in place for another year.
But it was done using a procedure that means MPs are not even given the chance to vote on it or even properly debate it in Parliament.
This policy affects nearly half a million British pensioners overseas, including my 100-year-old WW2 veteran Mum, Anne. Because she moved to Canada to be near family, her state pension has been frozen for more than 20 years. Today she receives just a fraction of the pension paid to someone who made the same contributions but stayed in the UK.
What makes this moment so important is that MPs themselves may not even realise they have been denied the opportunity to challenge this policy. That is why we urgently need your help today.
By clicking this link, you can quickly alert your MP and ask them to raise the issue in Parliament and speak up for the hundreds of thousands of pensioners affected.
This is also Commonwealth Week, when the UK celebrates its close ties with Commonwealth nations. Yet 94% of frozen pensioners live in those same countries, including Canada and Australia. Many supporters feel this makes it even more important that MPs are aware of what has happened.
Your support has already helped bring Mum’s story to Parliament and to the national media. With your help today, we can make sure MPs know that this injustice cannot simply pass without challenge.
Please, if you can, click the link now and contact your MP.
With heartfelt thanks,
Gill
