Dear supporters of Balloch Library. Having had plenty of time to think over yesterday’s Council meeting in Dumbarton, here are my thoughts. This pétition and this fight is twofold. It’s to save an important library for our community and it’s to stop our local school being used to further the Labour agenda regardless of child safety. Yesterday was an eye opener. We were treated with silence from the Labour councillors, as if we weren’t there. The motion forwarded from the SNP (see above) was a good one. It highlighted the minuscule savings of £50000 against the millions West Dumbartonshire Council has at its disposal. It was tabled too late, which was why ,this time, Labour was able to reject it being heard. There is one very important point I wish to make at this time. THIS PETITION IS A NARROW ONE. IT IS ABOUT SAVING OUR COMMUNITY LIBRARY. We may or may not sympathise with other local issues but our supporters, the now over a thousand people , are not to be highjacked to further other local causes   Whether it be the Bowling Basin or other wider issues. We will work with any councillors who will support us , but our support will not be siphoned off and used for any other purpose than saving our local library.
