Hey Folks,
Glad to report we are closing in on 50,000 signatures.
This is important. It could happen. But I think we'll need around 3 million signatures to really be taken seriously.
Will you please double down on your efforts to share this??
We are already seeing other calls to Congress to cancel student loans, but these are not what they appear to be. We've been fighting for student loan justice for 15 years, we've written hundreds of articles, books, been featured on 60 Minutes, The NYtimes and many other places. We've observed Congress very closely throughout. We see what they say vs. what they do...and I can tell you with confidence:
CONGRESS WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT CANCEL STUDENT LOANS!
At most, they will pass legislation for partial cancellation in a complicated, tricky mess of language with means testing, applications, and a fortress of bureaucracy which will ensure that very few people ultimately get ANY real relief.
We cannot let Congress get away with another forgiveness plan that sounds good, but is meaningless!!
Please folks: If you were ever going to fight for a petition, make it this one! Here are some suggestions for how to spread this, but do whatever you think is best if you have a better idea!

2. Tweet this petition out to as many celebrities, politicians, and news organizations you can think of. Be creative. Be clever. It only takes one or two to champion this cause to start a trend.
3. Please give this petition a boost if you can. It will help.
We can do this. We have been exceedingly tolerant of this intolerable lending system for far too long. We deserve our financial freedom. It is time. The founding fathers of this country would be the first to agree.
