Thanks for signing the petition.
Really glad to report that after not quite 4 days, our petition is close to 35,000 signatures. This is great, but of the 55 million people in the country who have- or are cosigned on student loans, around 65% of them- 35 million people- are losing sleep over their student loans (ie they are either in default forbearance, deferment, or otherwise delinquent). That was before this corona-crisis.
So...you aren't alone. You never were.
In fact, we are the majority of student loan borrowers. After decades of being ignored and abused under these predatory and inflationary loans, we finally have a real shot at freedom.
President Trump and the Federal Reserve are running out of options to stimulate the economy. It is now apparent that whatever payroll tax suspension might happen would not take effect for some months. Immediate, $1000 payments to all 200 million adults in the country probably won't solve this problem either, and will require raiding the Treasury.
So what we are asking President Trump to do- cancel student loans by executive order- becomes the strongest (by far), easiest, and cheapest option for the President to strengthen the economy.
Bigtime.
Do you want to be crippled by these loans for the rest of your life for the "crime" of going to college? This is a very serious question you need to ask yourself.
Will you please do these 3 things?
1. Share/paste this link in every place where you think it needs to be seen.
2. Tweet this petition out to as many celebrities, politicians, and news organizations you can think of. B e creative. Be clever. Your's could be the one to get retweeted by Obama, George Bush, Oprah, Taylor Swift, or other luminary...that would probably become a news item!
3. Will you please give this petition a boost? This is THE critical time right now, and anything you might invest in getting this petition out there is money well spent. Several people have done this, and it really helps. Making a big splash has a way of persisting.
So you know, we have honed our argument to razor sharpness. We've done interviews on 60 Minutes (Top Story), in the New York Times, Fox News, Rolling Stone, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Vice News, NPR, Public Television, Newsmax, The Wall Street Journal, and many, many other places. We've traveled the country, written books, articles, protested in the streets, confronted politicians and bureaucrats alike, marched on Washington DC, and more.
Google it. You will see that we have your back on this.
Please make all this happen. For yourself, for your fellow citizens, and for the tens- or hundreds of millions of people who will follow in our footsteps. As unlikely as it may sound, your country really needs you on this. Consider it your patriotic duty.
