Wow - we were averaging 1000 signatures per day for a little over a week there. Incredible everyone! Keep on sharing to push us to 10k. Then, can we make it to 100k?!
Some of you may have heard about Avril Lavigne’s People magazine cover article with the headline, “I thought I was dying”. She goes on to say that over 8 months, she went from doctor to doctor until finally one of them was open to testing and treating her for Lyme disease. Does this sound familiar? It did to my husband and I! It took years and several doctors in two countries to discover Lyme as the culprit for our very different ailments.
Is this an acceptable standard of care for patients suffering from a global epidemic? To be told it's in your head? To be denied treatment based on outdated, misleading, under-studied guidelines that were subject to an Antitrust suit in 2008?
When you sign here, please do comment no matter where you are signing from. It helps to reflect the global nature of this illness. Lyme disease is real and knows no 'borders'. So many of you have devastating, heartbreaking stories. I will be sharing many of them with press, the White House, and Congress.
There are a few actions happening over the next couple of months:
