Masalahnya
SM Rimbang Baling merupakan, tempat bermukimnya Masyarakat Adat Kampar Kiri Hulu, Rumah bagi Harimau Sumatera serta Pemasok Oksigen bagi manusia, kini terancam rusak apabila Eksplorasi Rimbang Baling dimulai.
Pemerintah sudah mengeluarkan izin ekplorasinya akibat yang paling nyata di depan mata yaitu rusaknya Sungai Subayang yang telah ratusan tahun secara turun temurun oleh masyarakat adat Kampar Kiri Hulu dijaga, Kehidupan Harimau Sumatera akan punah, suplay oksigen berkurang dan pemanasan global semakin cepat serta adat Kampar KiriHulu yang akan tergerus.

Rimbang Baling Wildlife Reserve, located in Riau, Sumatra, has been a sanctuary for the Indigenous People of Kampar Kiri Hulu, Home to the Sumatran Tigers and other wildlife and Oxygen Supplier for humans. It is also the site of the Subayang River, where freshwater is still clean and abundant. Freshwater constitutes only 3% of all waters in the planet - which makes an area that holds "fresh water" a rare natural resource. Now the harmony and sanctity of this place is under threat when Coal Mining Exploration in Rimbang Baling begins.
The Indonesian Government has issued licenses for this mining exploration, unfortunately. Once mining work begins, the balance of this living ecosystem will be affected. Mining operations are very likely to result in the erosion of the upstream of Kampar Kiri, followed by contamination of the Subayang River that has, for hundreds of years, been guarded by the Indigenous Peoples who have lived there for generations. Hectares of forests that contain rare biodiversity will be cut down. Furthermore, mining produces dangerous greenhouse gases that add on to global warming. In addition, with such encroachment, the habitat for the Sumatra Tigers that are already critically endangered will further shrink, inevitably leading to a faster rate of wildlife extinction.
To ensure the sustainability and harmony of a living ecosystem, we need to know what is at stake.
Based on the above considerations, we urge you to support us by signing this petition declaring that we reject and revoke ALL licenses that permit Mining Exploration of/near Rimbang Baling Wildlife Reserve, NOW.
