A few of us gathered on April 15th to present facts, figures, and persuasive argument to the city council and mayor during the city council meeting. 

Not being of a political background, I was expecting more of a respectful discourse about the city's future, but that was not the case. The mayor did not seem to be interested in hearing the argument to save the tree. 

It's going to take more of us and it's going to take fighting harder. It's going to take thick skin and it's going to take laser focus on fighting to save our wonderful ancient Chinquapin oak. There is still time and this battle is far from over!

We have written letters and now are going to reach out to some certifying commissions to see if we can mark the Sterling Oak as historic in order to get it protected. 

We all have to do more than just sign our names. So many of us have promoted our petition and shared on social media, and that is absolutely amazing! Please please please also email the mayor, Michael Taylor and City Council of Sterling Heights. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Honestly, it felt like a little bit of a setback and it was quite discouraging. But real, honest and good things are worth fighting for, even when the fight is not easy!
