🚨 MANDARIN ROAD SIDEWALK PETITION UPDATE — OUR FIGHT IS NOT OVER!

Imagine this:

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is now facing a criminal investigation by the Florida Attorney General’s Office, is dealing with a $39 MILLION budget shortfall, and has announced the elimination of nearly 200 jobs.

Meanwhile, JTA is seeking approval to borrow $30 MILLION from gas tax revenues associated with the 2021 gas tax increase to help stabilize its finances.

And yet, the controversial Mandarin Road sidewalk project has still not been officially canceled!

How can JTA justify moving forward with spending millions of taxpayer dollars on a sidewalk that thousands of Mandarin residents have made abundantly clear they DO NOT WANT?

Our community has raised serious concerns about the destruction of mature trees, disruption of wildlife habitats and wetlands, and the impact on the historic and scenic character of Mandarin Road.

More than 4,650 people have signed our petition. That’s not a handful of unhappy residents. That’s a substantial community response that deserves to be heard!

With JTA’s financial crisis, ongoing investigations, employee layoffs, and reductions in essential transit services, shouldn’t every proposed expenditure be subjected to renewed scrutiny?

We are calling for JTA to cancel the Mandarin Road sidewalk project and prioritize fiscal responsibility, transparency, and the needs of the community.

🎯 OUR NEXT GOAL: 5,000 SIGNATURES — AND BEYOND!

Please keep sharing this petition with your neighbors, friends, family, and everyone who cares about preserving Mandarin.

We have come too far to stop now. Our voices matter, and we intend to keep asking questions until we get answers!

🌳 PRESERVE MANDARIN ROAD!
