Portsmouth MPs attempt to excuse Cllr Harris

Firstly, thank you for signing the petition and demanding higher standards from Portsmouth City Councillors. Despite the strength of feeling, both Conservative MPs released a join statement yesterday; attempting to suppress further criticism and of Cllr Harris and push back against the movement for his dismissal. Their reasoning that the incident was "not the only one of its kind" is an utterly contemptible position. As if previous episodes justify the continuation of such disgusting behaviour. Indeed, if Portsmouth is ever going to "stamp out" dirty politics (as promised by Cllr Jones before the election), it is of paramount importance to start now and for Scott Harris to resign from his completely untenable position. It is baffling as to why some councillors and MPs are choosing to defend Harris. Please continue to make sure they know that we will NOT tolerate this sort of behaviour or anyone who defends it.
