Bicentennial Improvements Project update

Hello! It’s been a few years, but we finally have some good news to share! The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) is moving forward with the study of Milwaukee Avenue, and this includes all the areas we presented for the Bicentennial Improvements Project. Do you have ideas of your own? Well, here’s your chance to tell CDOT what you think is best for Logan Square! There is a public meeting Wednesday August 30 from 5:30-8:00 at Logandale Middle School, 3212 W. George St. The Bicentennial Improvements team will work with CDOT to: ACTIVATE SPACES, CREATE PLACES Improvements should support the creation of vibrant, active public spaces at both the Centennial Monument and the Logan Square Blue Line station. The improvements at these two distinctly separate public spaces should harmonize the historic elements of Logan Square itself and improve the connection between local businesses at the CTA plaza. MAKE NEW CONNECTIONS Roadway improvements on both Milwaukee Ave. and Kedzie Ave. should prioritize and enhance walking, biking, and public transit to easily connect residents to local businesses, the boulevards, and the neighborhood as a whole. The realignment of critical segments of existing streets should focus on greatly improved and easily accessible public spaces with numerous multimodal connections. CELEBRATE THE NEIGHBORHOOD The improvements should keep Logan Square, Logan Square and reinforce the pride all of us share for our neighborhood’s unique identity. Ideally, improvements that reflect the past, present and future of Logan Square. Think we missed something? Let us know! Can’t make the meeting?
