BOE Meeting last night

Thank you all for coming out last night to support the German program. We think that everyone did a great job. The next meeting we are intending to attend is in November. They will review class sizes at that point. Of course the current class size/enrollment does not reflect well for obvious reasons. We intend to look into past class sizes over numerous years as well as comparisons to other language class sizes in this school as well as possible neighboring schools. If you have any other ideas about strategy, please let us know. Caroline and her husband have 2 letters in the Press this week, and will probably write some more. If you'd like to send in a letter, that would be very helpful. FYI: Below is a reference to class size for language programs that is recommended by ACTFL. That number is 15 and the freshman class that was cancelled had an enrollment of 18 students. German 2 has about 18 Students as well! Class size and student achievement are closely correlated and therefore 18 students is by any means a full enrolled German 1 class! Sincerely, Caroline, Bebe and Daniela
