My son Alfie was the first person in the U.K. to receive a permanent cannabis license for the medication he used in Holland. The law was changed on 1st November to allow consultants to prescribe GMP cannabis oil on the NHS. He then went on to the first person in the U.K. to receive a legal NHS prescription. In July 2018 I brought THC legally in the U.K.
Unfortunately not one new prescription has been issued on the NHS since the law change. I believe this is due to stigma, lack of education and the obsession that cannabis medicine must fit into a pharmaceutical model.
This petition was a victory for Alfie but for the many thousands in the U.K. who remain desperate for access to prescription cannabis medicine it has still not improved.
There are now 28 private prescriptions for full extract cannabis but these cost a lot especially for the families whose children have refractory epilepsy and need high doses.
My work as a campaigner for others will continue until things are better for everyone.
