Dear supporters,
Thank you once again for standing with us to protect Barnes Montessori Pavilion. We’re writing to share a brief update based on recent correspondence and to let you know about potential next steps in our campaign.
Response from the Council
Councillor Anton McNulty-Howard has acknowledged our concerns and confirmed that a formal response will be provided within the Council’s standard timeframe of seven working days. He also noted that some issues may be addressed through local Police engagement and the Safer Neighbourhood Team. A more detailed reply is expected from Council officers and Barnes Common Limited shortly.
Response from Barnes Common Limited
Barnes Common Limited acknowledged that the Council is the landowner and therefore the appropriate authority to respond formally. In the meantime, they have invited us to meet with their team to discuss the Vine Road Project and their partnership with the Council in delivering it.
What’s Next
We will be taking up the offer to meet with Barnes Common Limited and will continue engaging directly with the Council. We’re also awaiting the launch of the official Council ePetition, which we’ll share here as soon as it goes live.
In addition, due to the significant concerns raised about the broader redevelopment plans for Vine Road Recreation Ground — including the proposed skate park and potential loss of educational and green space — we are considering launching a second petition to formally oppose these aspects of the project.
If these issues matter to you, we encourage you to continue sharing the petition and stay tuned for the next phase of community action.
With gratitude
