Petition Update: Request for Transparency from Town Officials

Thank your for your support.

I want to provide an important update to everyone supporting this petition.

I have formally contacted Mayor Margaret Quirk and Councillor Lee Dale to request clear information on the total cost to the Town of Georgina for policing and supporting the Shake Your Buoy event. This includes staffing, enforcement, traffic management, and any additional municipal resources that were deployed. As taxpayers, we deserve to understand exactly how much public funding was used and whether the event organizers contributed their fair share.

At this time, I am still awaiting acknowledgment of my email.

This event has had a noticeable impact on Pefferlaw and Lake Simcoe from traffic congestion and environmental disruption to the strain placed on a community that does not have municipal water, sewer, or adequate public facilities. Residents rely on private wells and septic systems, and Holmes Point Beach is already a small, underserviced area even on a normal summer weekend. Large-scale events without proper planning or infrastructure create real consequences for the people who live here.

Transparency is essential. I will continue to pursue answers and keep this petition updated as soon as I receive a response from Town officials. Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, and spoken up. Our community deserves accountability and responsible stewardship of Lake Simcoe.
