We're just about two days in and already have over 500 signatures!

It is clear that the people are behind this effort to prevent the cruel and burdensome ordinance from passing.  We need to keep the momentum rolling.  Please share this petition with 2-3 people who will sign it and ask them to share it with 2-3 more as well.  Please share it all over social media.  I have posted it wide and far on Facebook but we are under utilizing other platforms like Instagram and YouTube. 

Also, please email the City Council directly!  Let them know that you do not want these arbitrary and harmful rules at the parks.  Human decency, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and people's safety are on the line and we need to protect them!

In response to some of the feedback I have received from supporters of the ordinance I wanted to point out some things the City could do to address their concerns and also allow for direct charity and almsgiving.
1) Allow general permitting with basic, common sense, requirements like cleaning up after ourselves.  A shall-issue permitting system with specific requirements (which are not overly burdensome) makes sense. They also need to remove the two per park per month rule and allow unlimited permits.

2) Partner with local high schools, not-for-profits, scouting organizations, and groups that feed the homeless, to do park clean up events.  Many of these organizations already do them so let's get them coordinated and working cooperatively with the City.

3) Enforce the rules that are already on the books.  Littering is already against the rules.  Doing drugs in the parks is already against the rules. Leaving medical waste in the parks is already against the rules.  Rather than shutting down charity they could enforce the rules already on the books.

There are many other ways we could achieve everyone's goal of clean and safe parks without shutting down charity.  Please share your ideas with the City directly as well!
