On the mountains, mares are giving birth in already desperate conditions. Forage is limited, and while the area is vast, the number of horses living there is simply too high for the available grazing. Many mares are entering foaling season underweight, exhausted, and struggling to cope. This puts not only the mares at risk, but their unborn and newborn foals too.

Without urgent intervention, more lives will be lost. The current situation is leading to hunger, declining condition, and preventable suffering at the most vulnerable time of the year.
