Is the situation getting any better? No

Despite the relative calm in panic buying, refugees and asylum seekers are still finding it hard to get the basic food items they used to find in ParknShop. In addition, the prices have gone high for refugees (especially families) who reports that they only use their food cards 2 or 3 times, and the balance is zero. Those living in areas with no ParknShop, can use their food card to buy things at Fusion Supermarket. Is it any better than ParknsShop? Not at all, the prices are too high and some of them said they just use their food cards once and the balance is zero. Refugees and asylum seekers are still struggling to get necessities of life even though panic buying stops.

A community-wide survey conducted by the Refugee Concern Network found that over 70% of refugees and asylum seekers had difficulty in getting food from supermarkets over the week between February 25 and March 4, while 7 in 10 of them were still anxious about food insecurity and their ability to purchase food from the supermarket, as they are only given e-Token for food from designated supermarkets on a budget of around HK$40 (US$5.11) per day per head.
