Rhylee's Law Update
We are continuing to move forward with Rhylee's Law: The Companion Pet & Caregiver Protection Act.
The proposed legislation has now been shared with members of the New Jersey Legislature, along with comparison materials outlining the gaps in current law and the safeguards Rhylee's Law would provide for companion animals, caregivers, and veterinary professionals.
As we approach the upcoming lame duck legislative session, our next critical step is securing a legislative sponsor to formally introduce the bill beforehand.
Rhylee's Law is not about blame. It is about ensuring that when an animal's condition is worsening, caregiver concerns are heard, reassessment occurs, and appropriate escalation is considered before it is too late.
We remain committed to working with legislators, animal welfare advocates, veterinary professionals, and the public to advance these common-sense protections.
Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, and supported this effort in Rhylee's memory. Every signature helps bring us one step closer to meaningful change.
Animals cannot speak. When their caregivers do, the system must respond.
