After much protraction and over half a million spent on a project that has limited local support the velorail opened today with no path alongside it. Over 200 submissions on the planning application asked for a pathway alongside this project and were ignored, now the closed railway is a pay per use tourist attraction. A similar project in Snowdonia National Park in North Wales - which has a footfall of over ten million visitors a year failed due to lack of interest. Mayo county council has sunk over half a million into this project. Why? The vast majority of people in KM wanted a simple greenway but have had their wishes ignored. If you continue to remain baffled or annoyed at what has gone - you have to act, you have to speak to your councillors and ask why weren't we listened too???
