The United States currently has Nineteen states and Washington, D.C., that have Extreme Risk Protection Orders / Red Flag laws that allow law enforcement, family members, school administrators and health care providers to petition the courts to remove firearms from people who may be a danger to themselves or others. Judges then decide whether to grant petitions, called extreme risk protection orders, after a hearing. The orders usually last a year. Red flag laws have been supported by gun safety advocates and law enforcement officials as a lifesaving tool that can prevent lives being lost in domestic violence cases, suicides and mass shootings. These laws have been proven to save lives. If Wisconsin had the Red Flag Law also known as Extreme Risk Protection Orders, into law, I believe my son Henry would be alive today. I’m asking for your continued support by sharing this important petition in honor of my son Henry and the countless lives that have been lost.       Sincerely, Henry’s Mother
