Urgent MA Smart Meter Action Today Needed!
Hello Everyone!
We have just received news that a new MA Smart Meter Opt Out Amendment is being introduced to the MA Senate for consideration and debate by the senate tomorrow!! This Amendment (Amendment #43 of Bill S.2842) is written by the same Senator (Sen. Michael Moore) that wrote bill S.1988, the very same bill addressed in this petition and is very similar in its content. Those working at the statehouse have communicated that hearing from their constituents is very impactful. For those of use living in MA, let's all reach out to our respective senators and ask that they support, and even co-sponsor, this Amendment, giving all MA residents the right to opt out of smart meters, including for medical reasons, without penalty or risk of service termination!

Below is a sample of what can be sent to your senator regarding this amendment. It is also of note that their are still residents living in MA currently without running water during the current pandemic, due to smart meter rejection.

Sample Text: "Please co-sponsor and support Amendment #43 to the Economic Development bill to establish ratepayer rights, which includes requiring utility companies to provide ratepayers with a choice of the type of utility meters to be installed and operated on their places of residence or business; the ability to retain and operate an “electromechanical analog meter” on an ongoing basis at no cost to the customer; and the right to replacement of a wireless meter with a non-transmitting electromechanical meter at no cost. Please be aware there are currently those in MA who are experiencing service termination due to medically advised smart meter rejection. Thank you for your consideration."
