It is hard to believe, yet true, that the United States is still one of the top abusers of innocent animals.  Shelter means to protect, NOT kill, nor terrify and torture.

I still never forget seeing a poor, terrified dog being dragged in the floor, by an employee of a shelter, to be killed. It was sickening.  The dog was helpless and crying in fear knowing what was about to happen.

Animal abuseb is also a sport for people to enjoy.   I watched a video of a sweet pup being beaten because he did not want to kill a rabbit. The neighbor filed numerous complaints to the police with no response at all.  Not even the video sufficed to protect that poor dog.

I knew of a rescue that took mom and newborn pups home.   Locked them in a closet, seoerate from their mother, too be found dead later.   Reason ginven... their play kept her up at night.   Her license was not suspended.

Horrible experiments are still some on animals with voice boxes removed so the abusers won't hear their cries.

It breaks my heart that the system is not working.  Many people WANT to adopt dogs but shelters day rescue only so they cannot adopt...or kill before we even know they are in the shelter.
