Last week I protested outside the Child Safety Services, Woodhouse Building in St. John's Park, Newtown, Tasmania. I held up a large sign "Know your child's rights", that's it. Nothing offensive about it.

I was asked by John, a team leader "What are you doing Paul, you're not helping". Although he acknowledged my right to protest he preferred I moved on. So I did, down to Main Road, Newtown for a short time. It was nice to get a few honks from passing motorists. It is essential that this rather autocratic, underfunded organization gets the funding it needs to protect our children in care but most importantly not to NEGLECT their human rights. 

There are 54 Rights of the Child and by my count Child Safety Services does not uphold all of them. 

Child Safety Services says quite clearly that it STRONGLY supports the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child.
