Yes you read right!
On a day when some fathers won't be with their children marks the beginning of National Child Protection Week. It's a pity that the inanimate things such as the ABC "War on Waste" are more newsworthy than children in out of home care. This week is unlikely to be covered by the media adequately.
Yesterday I had a productive meeting with the Deputy Secretary and Director of Child Safety Services in Tasmania. I raised 5 issues of public interest:
=Proactive support and inclusion for parents in child protection.
=Registration and professional clearance for child safety officers
=Parent advocates working alongside child safety officers
=Child Protection Party registration in Tasmania
=Understanding what child safety services do
Still no response from the Minister for Community Services.
