Thank you all for showing up to protest with us at the Laguna Beach City Hall and thank you to Sgt. Simmons for supporting our first amendment right to peacefully assemble. We had a pretty good turn out full of passionate mountain bikers and hikers that were able to spread the message to passers by. This cannot stop here, we need to keep it going. My good friend Elijah was able to dial into the City Council Zoom meeting and present our concern. The response from the council was mixed. One member noted that it is important to get the input of trail users when making decisions that impact our trails and was receptive to collaboration. Another member was a bit dismissive, while he commended our efforts and our protest, he also passed the buck stating that the city council has no control over OC Parks. This is an unacceptable position for an official to take and it is not an accurate statement. OC Parks will listen to local legislators over a group of passionate trail users. They have a bigger voice and it should be used to serve the interest of their constituents. Please reach out to the legislators listed below and continue our efforts.
