On February 5 @ 5 PM, there is a Seattle City Council meeting to hear public comments on the One Seattle Plan (Plan). Would be great if supporters were able to show up and be heard on the Plan, especially raising reasonable concerns about how the Plan affects our stretch of 10th (from McGraw to Fulton).
Examples of comments that I think would be good to raise (others will have their own):
- Homeowners weren't part of the process - councilmembers should take the time to meet with and hear from their constituents;
- Trees - Olmstead Parkway is at risk if there is too much development. Many of these trees are very old (green canopy, keep the area cooler, and are a carbon trap). Would they be protected from developers or replaced by dinky 2" trees.
- Not currently a commercial strip - given all the other "neighborhood centers" on QA (QA Ave, 3rd and McGraw, Galer, and 10th (south of McGraw)), did this stretch need to be upzoned to allow for 5 story buildings - NR with four units (or even LR1) would have created more housing density without the excessive impact of LR3.
