DA REQUEST TO PLACE THE MUNICIPAL MANAGER ON PRECAUTIONARY SUSPENSION, HAS PASSED!

The Democratic Alliance is pleased that its proposal was adopted by the Council of the Mangaung Metro that Mr Tankiso Mea, Municipal Manager, be placed on precautionary suspension pending the investigation into his possible misconduct.

This is to prohibit or prevent any intimidation or interference with witnesses.

This request by the DA, was up to now not supported by the ANC majority in Council.

This evening the ANC initially again attempted to rather place the MM on special leave, however the DA proposed that the resolution be altered to precautionary suspension. This proposal was passed with a majority of 62 votes. Several ANC councillors voted with the DA. The FF+ did not vote at all.

The DA won another battle in the war to ensure better services for the residents of Mangaung.

Mea has failed the residents of Mangaung since his appointment. The failure of his administration to pay bulk service providers like Bloemwater regularly, to ensure that refuge removal happens regularly and to maintain infrastructure like our roads has plummeted Manngaung into a state of near collapse.

While we will fight to hold Mea accountable it is to be rememberred that the he ultimately is and has always been an ANC cadre.

Only once the DA is voted into power will we have real change in Mangaung.
