"Millions of proposed grades set to be cut down after ‘generous’ predictions by teachers"
The I newspaper is reporting today that millions of teacher assessment grades will be dropped to fit Ofqual's current standardisation algorithm. Some models suggest that, if GCSE grades were to be consistent with the 2019 results, 1/3 of GCSE grades will have to be shifted downwards. It is clear from this article that almost every pupil will experience some sort of adjustment, though pupils at low-performing schools will likely be disproportionately affected. We cannot allow capable pupils to be unfairly adjusted; they must not be held accountable for the performance of previous students.
I would also like to thank everyone who has signed this petition. If left unresolved, this issue will have profound long-term impacts on both pupils and schools and I encourage you to continue sharing with your friends and family.
