I'm writing out of concern for vulnerable New Jerseyans. With New York having ended its statewide mask mandate in healthcare settings, New Jersey may soon do the same.
Please call the NJ Dept. of Health Commissioner's office at (609) 292-7837 to say you support keeping the mask mandate in healthcare facilities!
Without it, it may mean that doctors and staff won't have to mask up when seeing patients. People who are perhaps unknowingly infectious and asymptomatic will no longer be masked and thus much more able to transmit an infection to others. Seniors and those with underlying conditions are particularly susceptible to complications from COVID-19 and don't have the option of avoiding medical care. With that, it's imperative that we keep the healthcare masking mandate in place. No patient should have to worry about the risk of COVID-19, flu, RSV, and other communicable diseases when tending to their health.
Please look out for a new petition in support of this initiative in the coming days.
Thank you for your help,
Adam
