Happy new year everyone - hope you have had a great start to 2023
The residents of the farm at 405 Ryans Rd have now vacated the premises. At my home at least there has still been no official update or timeline presented from the Austin Hospital or VHBA to locals.
In the lead up to the State Election I was really dissapointed at the tactics used to keep the opposition to this 405 Ryans Rd quiet.
- Having comments and people banned from the Diamond Creek Facebook page
- A certain person who was aligned with a political party in photos regularly taking down protest signs at 405 Ryans Rd.
- Many residents who lived opposite the chosen area were left off communications - or only added after protesting to our local member
It looks like we are set at 820 signatures for this petition - not quite the 1000+ we would have liked but a good number none the less .
Despite the Vic Government who made the decision getting voted back in we will still be presenting the petition to the Victorian Health Building Association and the Nillumbik Council. This will be to emphasize the lack of consultation and to highlight the local opposition to this poorly chosen site.
Even though Nillumbik have not been directly involved with this site choice - their lack of opposition or scrutiny has meant that they have abandoned those who reside in the immediate area and wider surrounds who do not believe the site and Road is the best choice. (There will also be decisions made going forward that will continue to affect local residence - so it is important to let Council know there has been opposition).
Thank you to you and all who helped and opposed ( most in the area did not really care about because it did not affect them) - so it was not a popular choice to make.
Once we have had a response to the petition I will post up anther update. the aim will be to submit it at the beginning of February 2023
We have great webpage for those who want to know a bit more
