So far this is where we stand:
- A temporary ceasefire started on the 24th of November (Friday) for a period of 4 days. Since then, many incarcerated Palestinian and Israeli women and children have been released by Israel and Hamas. However, many Palestinians in the West Bank are being detained.
- Since the 24th of November, Israel has broken the ceasefire several times.
- Currently, talks of the extension of the truce/ceasefire are ongoing.
The situation as of 27th November 2023.
The BDS Movement (a Palestinian-led organisation) has called for a Global Day of Action against the #GazaGenocide on the 29th of November, 2023. The day is to be observed as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, to END business-as-usual with apartheid Israel.
The link here contains details about the call. Below we are providing a summary of the same:
- Organize peaceful disruptions, sit-ins, occupations, etc. targeting policymakers, as well as the corporate enablers of genocide and apartheid
- Disrupt the transport of weapons, or weapon parts, to Israel, including in transit states, by supporting trade unions refusing to handle such shipments
- Pressure parliaments and governments to cancel existing military contracts and agreements with Israel
- Intensify all strategic economic boycotts and divestment campaigns against complicit corporations.
(IMP NOTE: a list of companies to boycott and divest is given on the BDS Movement site here. Also, BashSoftware has developed an app called No Thanks, that lets you input the brand name or the serial number and tells you whether the product supports Israeli Apartheid. Right now, only a Playstore link is available as Apple is a pro-Israeli company and will not host any such apps on their platform. Jotform.com (website) is another initiative that has evidence behind the boycott of pro-Israeli companies alongside a list of alternative companies, products, and brands. We are providing an infographic from the BDS movement on targeted boycotting here. - Mobilize your community, trade union, associations, etc. to declare itself an Apartheid Free Zone (AFZ) on November 29th. Details on how to do that are provided here.
- Pressure your elected representatives to put real pressure on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to urgently prosecute Netanyahu and all other Israeli officials responsible for genocide, apartheid, and war crimes.
We, here at Citizens Collective for Gaza, thank you for your support in exerting pressure on the 5 key unions to boycott any relations with Israel. Please continue SIGNING and SHARING the No Fuel for Genocide petition and remember to ANSWER THE GLOBAL DAY FOR ACTION CALL on the 29th of November. The Citizens of Gaza will themselves also engage on the day of action, especially online via X (formerly known as Twitter), and Instagram to exert further pressure on the following unions, IndustriALL, European Trade Union Confederation, International Trade Union Confederation, United Auto Workers and European Community Shipowners' Association. Follow us on X (Twitter) and Instagram for further details.
From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free.
