Nissan has made contact

Hi team, I've had 2 lengthy conversations with Nissan head office. Firstly, thank you for signing and showing support, it has been received by Head office! It had been acknowledged that the fuel sensor and gauge is, in their words, "on the conservative side". Their reasoning is that injectors etc are expensive. I understand their logic but also said that "I want my fuel gauge to tell me the truth and I take responsibility of it running dry, for those that make the costly mistake of running the risk of running it dry should not result in a 'conservative' fuel gauge of no accuracy". I further stated that it will have the opposite effect of people guessing how much fuel they have until empty. Especially if you turn the car off and forget when the 4 warning lights came on! They confirmed there is approx 15-20lt of fuel in the car when the gauge is empty, giving another 150-250km range (depending on driving style). Again, I believe this takes out the facts of what fuel is in the car vs guessing and approximations! The range to empty is another smoke and mirrors feature with little factual resemblance. It's like having a speedo reading 100km but the car only doing 95km as they figure most people will speed so they factor in a 'conservative' speedo..... Those suffering really poor fuel economy are advised to do the following, as I will be doing tomorrow. Book into any Nissan dealership (as they all carry the warranty) and have the fuel gauge and sensor checked. Then I was told they need to do a full reset on the computer settings that may be effected from the testing staged?!?! This may help the computer recalibrate. I then need to wait till I've done at least 5000km, as they believe the economy will improve?! I responded by saying surely modern day diesels are run in before releasing and improvements would be on 1lt/100 difference not 5-6lt like I'm experiencing. I'll follow the first few steps as should you and see what/if a change occurs for the better. They weren't willing to put anything in writing but called a local dealership on my behalf. I will gaurantee 100% that they will say the car figures are an ideal testing situation overseas. So my accessories like A/T tyres, bullbar, winch, roof rack, etc are the result of poor economy. I will request that my car is flown to this ideal overseas destination to prove the difference. Thats fair right? They can't just assume my accessories add 5-6lt extra per hundred without proving/compairing in the same as the test conditions. I'll accept 1-2lt! Too be continued....
