RE: Auckland DHB Parking for hospital staff

2 APRIL 2020

Wilson Parking is working hard to keep our customers, clients and staff safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. We acknowledge the incredible work that our healthcare workers are doing on the frontline – they are fighting for all New Zealanders.

There have been recent media stories published that claim that Wilson Parking is profiting from this crisis – these claims are false and could not be further from the truth.

Wilson Parking manages several parking sites around hospitals and clinics throughout New Zealand, but we do not set the parking fees. Wilson Parking does not set or control the price charged for car parking at Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) sites, nor do we not share in the parking revenue at any of the DHB sites that we manage. Wilson Parking does not own the carparks, they receive a management fee to keep a number of ADHB sites around New Zealand safe, clean, and working.

We are sure that the ADHB is working tirelessly through this health crisis and we are working with them and other healthcare organisations to assist in the fight against COVID-19.

Last week Wilson received direction from ADHB that car parking charges have been temporarily suspended at Auckland Hospital and have implemented the operational changes necessary to facilitate this.

These times are unprecedented and incredibly stressful – we want to thank all of our healthcare workers for their continued commitment to caring for New Zealanders.
